Tech Suits

Team suits are a standard requirement for all meets, ensuring a unified and cohesive appearance. However, our coaching staff designates specific meets as Performance Meets, granting the flexibility for swimmers to opt for technical suits instead of the traditional team suit. This strategic choice allows our athletes to optimize their performance, aligning with the coaching staff's judgment of the meet's significance and competitive nature. Your commitment to both team unity and individual excellence is appreciated, and the choice of attire reflects the tailored approach we take to meet preparations.

Tips to Extend the Life of Your Swim Suit

Swimsuits are an essential part of your swim gear, providing the comfort and functionality you need in the water. To maximize the lifespan of your swimsuit, consider the following tips:

  1. Proper Fit: Ensure your swimsuit fits correctly to avoid unnecessary pressure on seams, preventing early rips and tears. Visit Elsmore Swim Shop for expert fitting advice on both training and technical suits.

  2. Rinse After Use: After each training session or meet, rinse your suit in cool, clear, non-chlorinated water. Hand-washing with chlorine-neutralizing detergents is recommended; avoid machine washing.

  3. Air Dry: Allow your suit to air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area. Lay it flat to prevent potential sagging. Never leave your suit balled up in a wet towel or use a clothes dryer.

  4. Rotate Suits: Have multiple suits and rotate their usage. This ensures each suit has proper drying time between uses, extending their overall lifespan.

Taking these extra steps will significantly extend the life of your swimsuits. Treat your swim gear with care, just like any other piece of equipment, and always have a spare suit on hand.

Tips to Extend the Life of Your Swim Cap

Swim caps are a frequently replaced item due to stretching, pulling, and exposure to chlorine. Follow these tips to prolong the life of your swim cap:

  1. Gentle Application: When putting on your cap, remove any hair accessories that could puncture or tear it. Use your fingertips, not fingernails, to adjust the cap into place.

  2. Quick Rinse: After swimming, give your cap a quick rinse in non-chlorinated water to remove chlorine and other chemicals.

  3. Gentle Drying: Gently dry your cap with a towel or allow it to air dry. Avoid leaving it wrapped in a towel or damp in your equipment bag.

  4. Talcum Powder: Sprinkle talcum powder inside your cap and distribute it evenly to absorb moisture and prevent bacteria growth. This also helps the cap from sticking to itself.

  5. Storage: Between uses, keep your cap in a separate pocket in your swim bag to protect it from sharp objects.

By following these steps, you can significantly increase the lifespan of your swim cap. Remember to replace caps showing signs of wear, holes, mold spots, or discoloration, and always keep a few spares on hand, just in case.
