Ken Stopkotte - Head Coach & Aquatics Director

Ken Stopkotte is the Head Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Fishers High School Swim Team, the Aquatics Director of the Fishers High School Aquatic Center and the Head Swimming Coach of Fishers Area Swimming Tigers (FAST).  Stopkotte started FAST in the summer of 2006.  He has been coaching for 23 years and is married to his wife, Becky, and has a eight-year-old son named Noah and a six-year-old son named Jacob.  Most recently, Stopkotte owned and operated Music City Pool Company and served as an assistant coach at Nashville Aquatic Club in Nashville, Tennessee.  He was the Head Coach of Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School, located in Carmel, Indiana, from 2000 to 2003.  Stopkotte led Carmel Swim Club to a sixth place finish in the 18-Under Division at the 2003 US Spring National Championships, the 2002 USA Junior National Short Course Combined team title, the 2003 Short Course Indiana Senior State team title, the 2001 Long Course Indiana Senior State team title, the 2002 and 2003 Indiana Long Course Age Group State team titles and the 2001, 2002 and 2003 Indiana Short Course Age Group State team titles.  As the Head Women's & Men's Swimming Coach of Carmel High School during the same period, Stopkotte guided the Greyhounds to six team titles, three women’s & three men’s, at the IHSAA State High School Championships in his three years at the school.  In addition, Stopkotte coached one USA Swimming National Junior Team member, numerous high school All-Americans and Indiana State High School champions and record holders, a US National Championship finalist and an 18-Under US National Champion.  From 1992 to 2000, Stopkotte was the Head Coach of the Cincinnati Marlins in Cincinnati, Ohio.  While at the Marlins, he led them to six top-10 finishes at the USA Swimming National Championships, 11 USA Swimming Junior National team titles, seven Ohio Senior Championship team titles and 18 Ohio Junior Olympic team titles.  Ten of Stopkotte's swimmers competed at the 2000 Olympic Trials and three of his former Cincinnati Marlins swimmers made the 2000 and 2004 US Olympic teams and combined to win two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal.  Coach Stopkotte has also coached his athletes onto the following USA Swimming National teams:  1994 Goodwill Games, 1994 National Junior Team, 1995 Pan American Games, 1995 World University Games, 1996 National Junior Team, 1997 Pan Pacific Games, 1997 Short Course World Championships, 1999 National Junior Team and 2000 Short Course World Championships Team.  In addition, Stopkotte coached one American record breaker, three US Open Champions, one USA Swimming National Champion, 15 USA Swimming Junior National Champions, five National High School record breakers and eight USA Swimming Junior National record breakers. From 1985 to 1992, before Stopkotte arrived at the Cincinnati Marlins, he coached Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio for seven years.  At Countryside YMCA, he led them to four YMCA National team titles.  From 1983 to 1985, Stopkotte was an Assistant Coach for the Anderson Barracudas/ME Lyons YMCA.

 

Maggie Moss - Senior/Age Group Coach

Maggie Moss was a star scholar-athlete for George Washington University, North Central High School, Washington Township Swim Club and Riviera Swim Club.  At GWU, she was a four-event varsity record holder, two-time "Most Valuable Swimmer", team captain (2004-2005 & 2005-2006), three-time Atlantic-10 Conference Champion and US National Championship Qualifier.  Coach Moss achieved the Academic Dean's List every semester of her college career and was on the Atlantic-10 Conference "Commissioner's Honor Roll" in each of her four years there.  This summer, she was the Head Counselor for the very successful Indiana University Swim Camp that had over 100 campers in each of the four one-week sessions.

 

Bill Pemberton - Age Group Coach

Bill Pemberton is a resident of Fishers and has been coaching for the past 11 years and held the positions of Head Coach of LaSalle HS in South Bend, Indiana (1995-1996), Head Coach of Bremen HS in Bremen, Indiana (1996-1998), Assistant Coach of North Central HS (1996-1998) and Age Group Coach for Washington Township Swim Club (1998-2006).   Coach Pemberton attended and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Bill was a

Team Indiana Quad and Zone coach.  Coach Pemberton has also coached numerous individual and team Age Group State, Quad, Zone Champions and several National Top 16 swimmers and is a past IHSAA Sectional Coach of the Year winner.

 

Erik Bruvold - Age Group Coach

Erik Bruvold comes to FAST from Washington Township Swim Club, where he was an assistant coach on their staff.  Coach Bruvold has also served as an Assistant Coach at Butler University.  Before moving to Indianapolis, he coached at Santa Barbara Swim Club, Cincinnati Marlins and St. Xavier High School.  Bruvold has coached National and Junior National qualifiers, as well as multiple All-Americans.  In addition, he has also coached numerous Age Group State Individual, Individual High Point and Team High Point winners.  Bruvold swam at the University of Cincinnati in college and at St. Xavier High School, where he was a member of a class that successfully won four Ohio High School State Championships, along with a National High School title.

 

Lauren Spencer - Age Group Coach

Lauren Spencer was a scholar-athlete at DePauw University where she was a 4 year All-SCAC Conference Team distance swimmer, All-SCAC Academic Honor Roll, and team captain.  From Knoxville, Tennessee, she was a 4 year State Meet qualifier and team captain at Halls High School and a 7 year Southeastern Championship Qualifier with Pilot Aquatic Club.

 

Ralph Thielking - Age Group Coach

Coach Ralph swam for the OB Aquatic Club, Connersville High School, and University of Missouri-Rolla. Ralph placed in numerous statewide
championships and competed in the YMCA National Swim Meet as an age group and high school swimmer . He was a two year captain of the Connersville High School swim team that consistently placed in the top 20 in the state.  Ralph was also a two year captain at the University of Missouri-Rolla that placed in the top 15 nationally at the NCAA Division II level of competition. Ralph coached numerous athletes at the Indiana Age Group State Championships and one nationally ranked age group swimmer during three summers as head coach of the Connersville OB Aquatic Club.

 

Kiley Gooch - Senior/Age Group Coach

Kiley Gooch is a graduate of Carmel High School and the University of Notre Dame.  Kiley was a competitive swimmer for fourteen years and was a member of the Washington Township Swim Club for two years and Carmel Swim Club for eight years.  As an age grouper, Kiley won numerous state titles and also won several state age group high point awards.  Kiley still holds the Indiana State record for the 13-14 400M IM.  Kiley was an eight time individual high school state finalist for the Carmel High School Women’s Swimming Team, which was undefeated and won four state titles during her career.  During her final three years at Carmel High School, she swam for Coach Ken Stopkotte.  Kiley served as the team co-captain during her senior year.  Most recently, Kiley swam for the University of Notre Dame, where she was a multiple event finalist for the Big East Champion Irish.
