Practice Squad Descriptions White Tigers
The White Tigers Squad is our introductory group
for eight & under swimmers that are first time competitive swimmers
emerging from lesson programs or Summer League Teams. In this
squad, stroke fundamentals and a love for the sport are emphasized.
To be placed in the White Tigers Squad, the swimmer must be able to do a
25-yard Freestyle with rotary breathing, 25-yard backstroke and a
25-yard butterfly kick. Red Tigers
The Red Tigers Squad is for 10 and under swimmers and the group refines
and builds upon fundamentals introduced in the White Tigers Squad, while
introducing more advanced drills and efficiency techniques.
Practices are offered six times a week. The coaches recommend
attending two to three practices a week.
To be placed in the Red
Tigers Squad, the swimmer must be able to legally do a 50-yard freestyle
with a flip turn, a 50-yard backstroke with flip turn, a 25-yard
breaststroke, 25-yard butterfly and 100-yard individual medley.
They also must be able to properly dive into the pool from the
starting blocks. Blue Tigers
The emphasis of the Blue Tigers Squad is still on
stroke mechanics, with the addition of basic interval training and
continued aerobic development. At this time, swimmers are
introduced to a basic training environment. The Blue Tigers is for
entry level 11-12 year-old swimmers and advanced 9-10 year old swimmers.
Practices are offered six times a week. The coaches recommend

10-Under swimmers will be placed in the squad if they meet one of the
following criteria: (a) Four Indiana Central Divisional cutoff times,
(b) Three Indiana Central Divisional cutoff times in three different
strokes or (c) One Indiana Age Group State cutoff time. Bronze Tigers
The Bronze Tigers Group is for swimmers ages 11-and-over that either do
not have Divisional cutoff times or have Divisional cutoff times, but
cannot make the practice attendance expectations of the Gold & Silver
Group. While stroke mechanics are refined, a shift to competition
training begins to be emphasized. Practices are offered six times
a week. The coaches recommend attending four to five practices a
week. Silver Tigers -
The Silver Tigers Group is for swimmers that are
age 11-and-over that have 13-14 Indiana Divisional cutoff times.
This group is the final step a swimmer will take in age group
swimming. While stroke mechanics are refined, a shift to
competition training begins to be emphasized. Practices are
offered at least six times a week. The coaches recommend attending five
to six practices a week. Gold Tigers I
The Gold Tigers is our training group for high school aged swimmers
which prepares swimmers for Senior State level and above.
In this group, year-round training is expected and strength
training is increased, as well as training volumes and intensities.
Swimmers are required to attend all workouts at this level, as practices
are designed specifically for individual race and stroke needs. There
will be time standards and practice attendance requirements for
acceptance into this group. Gold Tigers II

year-round or are unable to make the requirements and/or time standards
